Everyone knows Github right? If you write anything, in any development language \u2013 or even just do documentation then you have probably at the very least heard of Github. More than likely you use it too. But why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Well, there are a lot of reasons to make use of it. It\u2019s very lightweight firstly and this is one of it\u2019s greatest features in my eyes. No slow loading Sharepoint sites or systems that are bloated to cater for stuff that, as a developer, you do not want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I started using Github many moons ago and used to store code snippets there rather than entire projects. It\u2019s so easy to just copy and paste a few strings of text into the Github editor and it saves into \u201cthe cloud\u201d \u2013 ah yes that mysterious storage medium that means you shouldn\u2019t have to worry about losing the data any more \u2013 but, and here\u2019s my main issue with Github, you could have your account (or one of your contributors) compromised and all sorts of damage could happen to the code you have meticulously drank so many coffees over writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oddly there is no \u2018native\u2019 backup solution and even though Github is \u201ccloud\u201d based you would be made not to have a backup solution in place to ensure you don\u2019t lose all of your data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
